San Franpsycho's Locals-Only Guide to SF Beer Week

San Franpsycho's Locals-Only Guide to SF Beer Week

Hey all you beer enthusiasts! Can’t decide what SF Beer Week events to attend? Want to know what the locals are doing? Look no further. Here’s the San Franpsycho “locals-only” guide to SF Beer Week 2017.

Tuesday 2/14: Ocean Beach SD Meets Ocean Beach SF ft. Pizza Port

This Valentine’s day keep it low-key in the Outer Sunset by visiting our friends at The Pizza Place on Noriega! Pizza Port from San Diego will be there with their IPAs. Perfect date idea: a couple slices, a couple beers and a lovely sunset stroll down the Great Highway with the Ocean Beach waves in the foreground.

Details: Tuesday, February 14, from 5:00-6:30PM at 3901 Noriega St, San Francisco

Wednesday 2/15: Fast Times At Ridgemont High with Anchor Steam & San Franpsycho

How could we not include our own event on this list? Tickets are already sold out to this one-night-only film and beer pairing event at the historic Balboa Theater! This is the perfect locals event—there will be 3 limited special themed beers from Anchor Brewing, Pizza from The Pizza Place (in case you missed out Tuesday), ice cream from Humphrey Slocombe and of course the debut of our Spring/Summer 2017 clothing line! If you slept on getting a ticket to this event, you might be able to still get one through DoTheBay or The Pizza Place on Noriega’s ticket giveaways.

Details: Wednesday, February 15, from 6:30-11:00PM at 3630 Balboa Street, San Francisco

Thursday 2/16: SF Beer Week Nightlife at the Academy of Sciences

For all you science-fans out there, there isn’t a better time to visit the Academy of Sciences than this event. There will be dozens of local breweries all at the pop-up beer garden, such as Ale Industries, Anchor Brewing, CaliCraft and Fort Point just to name a few. Be sure to arrive early to take a tour of the universe in the planetarium! Tickets available here.

Details: Thursday, February 16, from 6:00-10:00PM at 55 Music Concourse Drive, San Francisco. 21+ event, Members $12, Non-members $15.

Friday 2/17: Friday Morning Beer Breakfast at Social Kitchen & Brewery

What better way to nurse a beer-induced hangover than with a little “hair-of-the-dog” breakfast of champions? Our friends down the street, Social Kitchen & Brewery, are having a Friday morning breakfast/brunch featuring special brunch appropriate beers & cocktails, delicious breakfast food and more. Start the holiday weekend right!

Details: Friday, February 17, from 10:30AM-2:00PM at 1326 9th Ave, San Francisco

Saturday 2/18: Hop as Hell Spicy Food and IPA Festival

Our team at SFP loooves hot sauce and spicy food, so you’ll most likely run into us at the Soma Streat Food Park on Saturday for their spicy food and IPA fest. There will be 20+ IPAs from all over NorCal and SoCal, with options to vote for your favorites! For those who dare, there will also be a hot wing eating competition, so get your tastebuds ready.

Details: Saturday, Februrary 18, from 12:00-4:00PM at 428 11th St, San Francisco

Sunday 2/19: Bob’s Donuts & Beer

End SF beer week right by having the best donut in the city: Bob’s Donuts. Wood’s Polk Station will be serving a batch of their epic Belgian Quad, flavored to pair with Bob’s infamous apple fritters. And trust us, you need to try the apple fritters.

Details: Sunday, February 19, from 12:00-5:00PM at 2255 Polk St, San Francisco

Cheers!

A Conversation with Fritz Maytag: The Man Himself

When asked if I wanted to interview a brewmaster at Anchor Steam named Fritz Maytag, I simply thought “Hell yes!” The question was remarkably unassuming, and I figured Fritz was a younger gentleman who had been brewing at Anchor for a few years, and also just so happened to have a great name. Upon conducting [...]

A Conversation with Anchor Brewing’s Kevin West

As San Franpsycho and Anchor Brewing’s relationship continues to grow, we’re stoked to be involved with the brewery’s amazing Drink Steam events. As the next Drink Steam event rears the corner (tonight at Make Out Room–RSVP!), and in order to further our growing bond, I decided to interview one of Anchor’s brew masters, Kevin West. [...]
